For covered suits against district court judges or staff, the clerk is authorized to accept service of process on their behalf.

“The Judges of this Court hereby authorize and appoint the Clerk of Court for the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and all deputies thereof, to accept service of process, pursuant to Federal Rules of Civil Procedure 4(i)(3) and 4(e)(2)(C), on behalf of the District Judges, Magistrate Judges, staff of the District Court”

Counsel must review official court transcripts for personal identifying information.

“Counsel of record are obligated to review the transcript for personal identifying information.”

If a transcript contains personal identifiers, file a notice of intent to redact within seven business days after it is filed.

“If personal identifiers are found in the transcript, a ‘Notice of Intent to Redact’ must be filed with the clerk (via CM/ECF) within seven (7) business days of the date the transcript was filed.”

Filing

File the transcript redaction request with specific page and line numbers within 21 calendar days after the transcript is filed.

“A ‘Redaction Request’ that includes the specific page and line numbers to be redacted must be filed with the clerk (via CM/ECF) within twenty one (21) calendar days of the date the transcript was filed.”
