General Provisions

Governing Law: Washington. Venue: King County (Seattle) or Pierce County (Tacoma), Washington.
Electronic Signatures. Valid per RCW 19.34.010 et seq.

Washington-Specific: Non-Compete

Washington restricts non-competes under RCW 49.62. Non-competes are void unless employee earns more than threshold amount (adjusted annually). Must be disclosed in writing and provided no later than time of acceptance. Maximum duration 18 months. Garden leave required for laid-off employees.

Washington-Specific: Invention Assignment

Per RCW 49.44.140, employers cannot require assignment of inventions created on employee's own time without employer equipment, unless invention relates to employer's business or results from work performed for employer.
