Illinois Home Improvement Contract
Illinois Home Improvement Contract
Before you use this: This agreement covers directly negotiated repair or remodeling work priced over $1,000 at an Illinois residence of six or fewer units. It is for signing away from the consumer's residence and for payment without property-insurance proceeds. For a covered in-home sale or an insurance-funded repair, obtain the applicable cancellation notices before signing. The contractor must give the owner the separate Home Repair: Know Your Consumer Rights pamphlet before execution and complete its duplicate acknowledgment; a receipt line in this contract does not replace that form.

A contract is a written record of what two or more parties agreed to and what happens if someone does not follow through. Clear language, defined terms, and clean signature blocks keep disputes small and enforceable. The most common mistakes in contracts come from vague promises, missing details about timing or payment, and skipping standard protective clauses like governing law and dispute resolution.
