3. MEMORANDUM OF POINTS AND AUTHORITIES
3.1 Introduction
3.2 Procedural Background
3.3 Legal Standard
C.R.C.P. 121 § 1-11(1) provides that continuances will be granted only for good cause shown. Courts consider the diligence of the moving party, the length of the requested continuance, prior continuances, inconvenience to witnesses, potential prejudice to other parties, and the effect on the Court’s docket. See People v. Norman, 703 P.2d 1261, 1266 (Colo. 1985) (trial courts retain broad discretion in granting continuances when justified by the circumstances). Compliance with case management orders issued under C.R.C.P. 16 or 16.2 is also required.
3.4 Argument
3.4.1 Good Cause Under C.R.C.P. 121 § 1-11

About This Template
These are the filings that drive a lawsuit through the system: complaints, answers, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and post-judgment papers. Each has its own format requirements under federal and state procedural rules, and each has a deadline that cannot be missed without consequences. Clean, procedurally correct filings move a case forward; sloppy ones invite motions to strike, amended responses, and avoidable delays.
