9. CONNECTICUT-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

9.1 Salary History Ban (Conn. Gen. Stat. §31-40z)

The Company is prohibited from:

9.2 Non-Compete Restrictions (HB 7196, eff. July 1, 2025)

Effective July 1, 2025, Connecticut law restricts non-compete and exclusivity agreements:

  • Duration: Maximum 1 year (or 2 years if the employer continues to pay the employee's base salary during the restricted period)
  • Income Threshold (Employees): Non-competes are unenforceable against employees earning less than 3 times the minimum wage (approximately $49.05/hour based on $16.35 minimum wage)
  • Income Threshold (Independent Contractors): Unenforceable against independent contractors earning less than 5 times the minimum wage
  • Legitimate Business Interest: Must protect a legitimate business interest that cannot be reasonably protected through less restrictive means
  • Healthcare Workers: Special restrictions apply to physicians, PAs, and APRNs (max 1 year, 15-mile radius)
