IDAHO BOAT BILL OF SALE FOR VESSEL TITLING

Before you use this: The Idaho Transportation Department's vessel titling guide requires a bill of sale for most private-party vessel title applications. It must identify the vessel, price, buyer's full legal name, date, and the seller's original signature. The guide allows the assigned Idaho title with the selling price entered on it in place of a separate bill in the stated case. Check whether the vessel must be titled: ITD distinguishes model year, permanently attached propulsion, length, financing, and excluded vessel types. Once a vessel has an Idaho title, later Idaho owners must continue that title chain. Idaho Code § 49-501A applies Chapter 5 title procedures to vessel titling.

Legal authority

  • Idaho Code § 49-501A
  • Idaho Transportation Department, Titling Vessels in Idaho — bill of sale requirements

A contract is a written record of what two or more parties agreed to and what happens if someone does not follow through. Clear language, defined terms, and clean signature blocks keep disputes small and enforceable. The most common mistakes in contracts come from vague promises, missing details about timing or payment, and skipping standard protective clauses like governing law and dispute resolution.
