13. WYOMING JURISDICTIONAL NOTES

Wyoming follows equitable distribution, requiring a "just and equitable" disposition of property under Wyo. Stat. Section 20-2-114. Wyoming courts may divide ALL property, including premarital assets. The court considers the merits of each party, the condition they will be left in, who acquired the property, and burdens on the property. Wyoming recognizes three types of spousal support: transitional, compensatory, and maintenance. The court retains statutory authority to reject settlement agreements it cannot in good conscience approve.

Property Division: Equitable Distribution (all property divisible) | Residency: 60 days
Waiting Period: 20 days from service (Wyo. Stat. Section 20-2-108)
No-Fault Ground: Irreconcilable differences (Wyo. Stat. Section 20-2-104)

Key Statutes:

  • Wyo. Stat. Section 20-2-114 (Property Division and Alimony)
  • Wyo. Stat. Section 20-2-104 (No-Fault Grounds)
  • Wyo. Stat. Section 20-2-107 (Residency Requirement)
  • Wyo. Stat. Section 20-2-116 (Property Settlement Agreements)

About This Template

Family law covers the paperwork that shapes divorce, custody, child support, adoption, guardianship, and other family matters. These filings are emotional and high-stakes, and they also have to meet strict procedural rules for service, financial disclosure, and parenting plans. Clean, accurate paperwork keeps the focus on getting a workable outcome for the family instead of getting derailed by technical problems that delay hearings or force amended filings.

Important Notice
