Woods v. Telb
Is it still good law? What later courts have actually done to this case.
Status
More on how this was screened
Later courts continued to apply Woods's constitutional holding and its rules concerning post-release control, sentencing notification, and the nature of post-release-control sanctions.
37 later cases cite Woods v. Telb; 37 of those citations sat close to treatment language and were flagged for reading, and all of them have been read. Citations that did not sit near treatment language were not flagged and were not read one by one, so a court that weakened this case without using any of that language would not appear here.

Superseded by statute

The Seventh District held that a later statute superseded Woods and related post-release-control cases addressing a trial court's noncompliance with the post-release-control statutes by establishing a remedial procedure to correct the sentence.
State v. Antol · Seventh District Court of Appeals of Ohio · filed
In support, Antol cites to a line of post-release control cases that addressed, on narrow grounds, a trial court’s non-compliance with post-release control statutes: State v. Jordan, 104 Ohio St.3d 21, 2004-Ohio-6085, 817 N.E.2d 864; State v. Beasley, 14 Ohio St.3d 74, 471 N.E.2d 774 (1984), Woods v. Telb, 89 Ohio St.3d 504, 733 N.E.2d 1103 (2000). These cases have since been superseded by a statute which establishes a remedial procedure for the correction of a sentence that failed to properly impose post-release control.
