WHAT IS A PROTECTIVE ORDER?
A protective order (also called a restraining order or order of protection) is a court order that legally requires someone to:
- Stay away from you
- Stop contacting you
- Move out of your home
- Surrender firearms
- Follow other conditions the court orders
