23-County System:
Wyoming has only 23 counties, the fewest of any U.S. state (tied with some). This means county clerk offices are widely spaced geographically, and some offices serve very large areas. Plan filing accordingly.

One-and-One-Half Times Bond Requirement:
Under Wyo. Stat. 29-1-401, the security required to discharge a lien is one and one-half times (150%) the lien amount. The court must approve the security and enter an order accepting it. Acceptable forms include corporate surety bonds, letters of credit, and cash or cash equivalents.

Notice of Satisfaction System:
Wyoming provides a formal "notice of satisfaction" issued by the Clerk of the District Court when a lien is discharged by alternate security. The owner then files this notice with the County Clerk to clear the lien from the property records. This two-step process ensures proper documentation of the discharge.

False or Frivolous Lien Statute (Wyo. Stat. 29-1-601):
Wyoming has one of the stronger anti-fraudulent-lien statutes. A person who files a false or frivolous lien faces:

• Civil liability for actual damages
• A statutory minimum penalty of $1,000 or treble actual damages (whichever is greater)

Contractor Licensing:
Wyoming does not have a general state contractor licensing requirement, which means the defense of "unlicensed contractor" available in some states may not apply in Wyoming. However, certain specialty trades may require licensing.
