Alabama Probate Court Recording

In Alabama, mechanics' liens and lien releases are recorded with the Judge of Probate in the county where the property is located.

Recording Requirements:
- Documents must be on 8.5" x 11" paper (white, unlined)
- Minimum margins: 3-inch top margin on first page; 1-inch on all other sides
- Black ink, legible printing or typing
- Original signatures or certified copies required
- Notarization recommended for lien releases
- Include Instrument Number or Book/Page reference to the original lien
- Recording fees vary by county; check with the specific Probate Court

Marginal Notation:
Under Alabama practice, satisfaction of a mechanics' lien may be entered on the margin of the record in the Judge of Probate's office. The lien claimant or an authorized representative must appear at the Probate office to make this notation, or a recorded satisfaction document may be filed.

1. 30-Day Release Deadline. Under Ala.
