11. State-Specific Notes

  1. Income Shares Model: Arizona uses an Income Shares Model that considers both parents' incomes and allocates the child support obligation proportionally based on each parent's share of the combined income.

  2. Minimum Wage Imputation: Courts presume each parent capable of earning at least minimum wage. In 2026, Arizona minimum wage is $15.15/hour in most counties; $18.35/hour in Flagstaff; $15.45/hour in Tucson.

  3. Parenting Time Adjustment: A parenting time adjustment applies when the parent with fewer days has 71 or more parenting days per year, recognizing the duplicated costs of maintaining two households.

  4. Self-Employment: Self-employment income is calculated as gross receipts minus ordinary and necessary business expenses. Depreciation and other non-cash deductions are generally added back.

  5. Four-Year Review Cycle: Arizona law requires the child support guidelines to be reviewed every four years by the Supreme Court.

  6. No Automatic COLA: Arizona child support orders do not include automatic cost-of-living adjustments. A modification petition must be filed.

About This Template

Family law covers the paperwork that shapes divorce, custody, child support, adoption, guardianship, and other family matters. These filings are emotional and high-stakes, and they also have to meet strict procedural rules for service, financial disclosure, and parenting plans. Clean, accurate paperwork keeps the focus on getting a workable outcome for the family instead of getting derailed by technical problems that delay hearings or force amended filings.

Important Notice

This template is provided for informational purposes. It is not legal advice. We recommend having an attorney review any legal document before signing, especially for high-value or complex matters.
