Apply this to your situation
This page covers one taxpayer's ruling, issued in 2009, which can't be cited as precedent. Ask about your situation and see what the current Code and IRS guidance say, with citations.
Plain-English summary
This private letter ruling corrects an obvious error in an earlier ruling issued to a company. The correction states that a trust will be treated as a qualified subchapter S trust from a redacted date forward, provided the trust's beneficiary files the required QSST election within 60 days of the correction letter. The IRS says the rulings in the original letter remain in full force and effect. The correction is limited to the specified sentence and does not express an opinion on other federal tax consequences.
